Why choose Kashvee

Tired of makhana that doesn't match the label?

The most common complaints about packet makhana — and how we fix each one.

  1. The problem: The pack said “premium”. Inside: tiny, broken pops.

Our fix: No broken or small pieces. Ever.

Every pop is graded by hand — only whole, full-size pops go in the pack. Jumbo means 19 mm and up.

  2. The problem: Great the first time, disappointing the next.

Our fix: The same grade, every batch.

    Graded to fixed sizes — Jumbo 19 mm+, Classic 15.85 mm+ — not eyeballed.

  3. The problem: Soft, chewy and stale by the time it reaches you.

    Our fix: Freshness-sealed pouches.

Packed to keep the crunch in, from our unit in Bihar to your door.

  4. The problem: Paying premium prices for oil, masala and filler.

Our fix: Plain makhana. Nothing else.

Never fried, nothing added — sourced directly from farmers in Mithila.

  5. The problem: Picking out husk and bad pops before it goes on the puja thali.

Our fix: Hand-cleaned and sorted before packing.

Husk and bad pops are picked out by hand, so it goes from the pouch straight to the thali.

Every pop is graded by hand: Jumbo is 19 mm and up, Classic is 15.85 mm and up. Here's the smallest pop in each pack, next to a ₹10 coin.

Drawn to real size on most screens — hold a ₹10 coin up to check. Phones and zoom can shift it a little.

Price, explained

Why good makhana costs more

Every pop passes through people's hands, not just machines — from the pond bed to the pack.

01

Pulled from pond beds by hand

Lotus seeds are gathered by hand from the beds of standing ponds in Mithila.

02

Sun-dried and popped

Washed, dried under the sun until the shell hardens, then popped into the light, white puff.

03

Sorted and graded seed by seed

Each pop is checked, cleaned and graded by size — only whole, full-size pops make the pack.

Cheaper packs make up the difference with small and broken pops. Ours don't — and the 1 kg pack brings Jumbo down to ₹188 per 100 g*.

Questions, answered

Before you buy

What's the difference between Jumbo and Classic?

Size. Jumbo pops are hand-graded to 19 mm and up — big and airy, ideal for snacking and gifting. Classic pops are 15.85 mm and up — even, everyday pops for kheer, curries and lunchboxes.

Do you ever pack broken or small pieces?

No. Every pop is graded by hand before packing, so only whole, full-size pops go in the pack.

Why is Jumbo more expensive?

Bigger pops are rarer, and every one is picked out by hand. You pay for size you can see, not filler.

Is anything added?

No. It is plain makhana — no oil, no salt, no masala. Nothing added.

Can I eat it during a fast (vrat)?

Plain makhana is a traditional vrat food, and ours has nothing added. Roast it in a little ghee with sendha namak, or make makhana kheer.

How do I make it crunchy at home?

Dry-roast it in a pan on low heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring, until a pop snaps when pressed. Add a teaspoon of ghee and a pinch of salt or pepper if you like.

How do I keep it crisp after opening?

Close the pouch tightly or move it to an airtight jar, away from moisture. If it softens, a 2–3 minute dry roast brings the crunch back.

How much is delivery, and how can I pay?

Delivery is free across India. Pay securely online by UPI, card, net banking or wallet.

Do you supply in bulk?

Yes — from 50 kg, with grade-locked supply and private-label packing for shops, kitchens and exporters. Request a bulk quote →
